An Analysis of the Influence of Youth¡¯s Academic Stress on Game Overindulgence by Mediating Parent-Children Communication and Peer Relationship

This study analyzed verify the impact of teenager academic stress on game overindulgence and the dual mediating effects of parent-child communication and peer relationship in this relationship. To verify the cause of game overindulgence in the long term and causal way, the structural equation model was analyzed using the data from the 5th (2018) of the game user panel survey, and 287 middle school students, 295 high school students, and 582 teenagers who responded to the survey were sampled and analyzed. The analysis results are as follows. First, it has been confirmed that the higher the academic stress of teenagers, the more indulged they are in gaming. Second, in the relationship between academic stress and game overindulgence among teenagers, parent-child communication and peer relationships were found to have individual mediating effects, respectively. Based on the above findings, policy and practical implications were proposed on how to solve the problem of overindulgence in gaming among youths.
